Sorry for the massive delay, we have been working on our storyboard and the storyboard should be up within the next few days we just have to add the last finishing touches to it.
We are starting to think about when we will be filming our music video, we just have to speak to the band and see when they are available to start filming. The pictures will up also within the next few days. We will also anaylise these pictures in detail.

Another theory "The Male Gaze"
This is another theory we learnt in class a few weeks ago, and I have been thinking it could be important to our music video, as our main character in our film is a female. "The male gaze" is a theory that is thought up by Laura Mulvey in 1975. This is a theory that explores the visual pleasure of narrative cinema and it deals with the concept on how the audience view the people that are presented.
There are different ways that feminists are thought of:
How men look at women
How women look at themselves
How women look at other women
Some features of this theory are when the camera lingers on the curves of the women's body and an example of this shot would be a slow pan upwards from their feet to their face. These shots often show what men look at when they look at women. The face is the last thing they look at. It makes the women seem objects to the men. However we could critise this theory because some women like to be looked at, in a sexual way as they like the attention. Also some women rely on the attention of men as this can sell and they can sell their image as a living.
Other people have looked in to this theory, some of these people are:
In 1980 Marjorie Ferguson who researched female expressions and came up with four different categories:
the chocolate box- The description of this theory is half or full-smile, lips together or slightly parted, teeth barely visible, full or three-quarter face to camera
invitational-emphasis on the eyes, mouth shut or with only a hint of a smile, head to one side or looking back to camera
super-smiler-full face, wide open toothy smile, head thrust forward or chin thrown back, hair often wind-blown
romantic/sexual-a fourth and more general classification devised to include male and female ‘two-somes’; or the dreamy, heavy-lidded, unsmiling big-heads, or the overtly sensual or sexual
Another comment that had been made about this theory was Trevor Millum in 1975 who researched male expressions and produced five categoriss
Carefree-active, healthy, happy, vibrant, outdoor girl; long unrestrained outward-flowing hair, more outward-going than the above, often smiling or grinning
Practical-concentrating, engaged on the business in hand, mouth closed, eyes object-directed, sometimes a slight frown; hair often short or tied back
Seductive-the eyes are less wide, perhaps shaded, the expression is less reserved but still self-sufficient and confident; milder versions may include a slight smile.
Comic-deliberately ridiculous, exaggerated, acting the fool, pulling faces for the benefit of a real or imaginary audience, sometimes close to a sort of archness
Categorical-neutral look as of a dummy, artificial, waxlike; features may be in any position, but most likely to be with eyes open wide and a smile, but the look remains vacant and empty; personality has been removed.
Also a theorist Johnathan Schoeder in 1998, had an insight to this theory and believed that the "Gaze" was more than just to look at someone or something. He said that he signifies a psychololgical relationship to show power, where the gazer is superior to the object of the gaze.
This may apply to our music video because our lead role is a female but then we arn't showing she has the power because we want to show the sterotypical "Niave" of young women. We do want our female role to stand out and be the one that the audience feel most connected with. So we will consider this theory and see if it does apply to our music video when we start filming.

Theories are music video could follow...
I have been thinking of some of the theories that our music video could follow, and i found on the A2 media blog "Steve Archer's Theory" It says that "There needs to be a stong and coherent relationship between narrative and performance in music promos" I feel this could make our video stronger we need to show that our narrative is linked to the music. It allows says "Music videos will cut between a narrative and a perfomance of the song by the band" We are going to apply this to our music video because we will show the band singing the song and also the narrative telling the story of the song. I feel that this will be important for our music video because the audience will then become more connected with our music video.
Another theory that i thought was interesting and that we could apply to our music video is "Andrew Goodwin's Theory" One of his theories that we are going to use is "Close-ups should always be included" We are going to use this in our video so the audience get a feel of our character. We will also try and find some other music video theories to use.

"The Third Wave Collective Identity"
Yesterday in class, we found out that we are no longer a media class but we are now "The third wave identity" And in German "Die Dritte welle" There is also a German film based on the third wave. It is interesting asking questions about what makes us unique? What does actually bring us together?
This also links back to representations
Social class, Gender, Age, Ethnicity, Religion, Disability.
It has made me think how do people see me, what do they think of me? How am i represented in people's eyes. It's all so interesting thinking of these type of questions. All these things can make me be unique to everyone.
For our music video I now think of how our viewers will read into our music video and how they can relate to the representations we include in our music video which will make our audience connect more with our music video.

Photos...
I have now just seen the photos that Rhys has taken, and they will be uploaded soon. We will be taking some more photos of the photos we have chosen, so we can show the different angles. We are now starting to think about the different locations and what shots we can use for them. We do need to take a few more photos because we want loads of different shots in our music video to make our music video more exciting. We can now continue with our storyboard because we now have an idea of the locations we are using. The locations we have chosen, link with our song because we have chosen places where the places and the shots can convey the mood of our music video. We have chosen quite dark closed spaces because the mood of our song is quite depressing and we want to keep this mood throughout the song to make it more effective and so it fits in with the mood of our song.

Storyboarding...
I havn't been blogging much at the moment, because i have been working on our storyboard. Our storyboard will be up soon. Rhys has taken the photos and I am going to have a look at them and i need to see some of the locations first before I can continue our storyboard so I know what the girl in our music video is going to be doing. Our pictures should be up within the next few days. So we should know the location by the next few days. We have loads of different locations to chose from. We are going to be careful chosing our locations, because we want them to convey the mood of our music video. We will be posting pictures and storyboard soon.

Web 2.0 digital literacy
This is an animation, that our group produced to show what Web 2.0 is. We used Xtranormal.com. This website allows you to choose your own characters, add actions and movement and speech. We developed a coneversation explaining what web 2.0 is. We then created a simple stop motion flick book to explain what web 2.0 is, in more detail. We used websites such as http://www.nickeid.com/ to show how one can interact with the internet. You can choose your own colours and design your own shoe. We also used Jason Pollack art which allows you to create abstract art. These are the tasks that we are going to set for the class.
Yesterday...
Yesterday I didn't post any blogs, as i was working on our storyboard. We will have this up shortly. Rhys went out yesterday and took some photos of possible locations for our music video. These will be up shortly too.

Plans For Tomorrow...
As I can get home tomorrow for around 12 O’clock I think that I will be able to get out and find some possible locations and I will be to take some pictures of the locations that I feel that would be a good setting for our Music Video, once I have taken these pictures I will be able to upload these photos using Flicker and then I will give brief overviews of each setting and why I feel that the setting would be a good location to use. I will try to take a variety of shots in each location and experiment with different angles shot distance and lengths.
Video Inspiration
I have just found some more inspiration for our music video. I found the song "Runaway" By Pink and tried to search for a music video, but unfortunatly she doesn't have a music video. So I found this music video that someone had created themselves to the same song, and i found this music video. It includes flashbacks of why the girl has ran away and this is what we want to portray in ours. However we are going to use a white screen to show are flashback because we think that the audience will then understand that it is a flashback and we will do our flashbacks in black and white to make it clearer. I like the way in this video how it fades in and out of the girl and i think we may do something like that for our video too.

Help with Story Boarding...
Dynamic Learning A2 Music Video Guide Exemplar
I have found this document on Mrs Hammond's blog, this document and this is really going to help us with our story board. as it will help us present our ideas in different ways. As we have just started our story board we can use ideas on here to help us. Once we have finished our story board we will upload it on our blog. This will help us to ensure that we can get our ideas across in an effective way. Not only will this help us with making a story board for our music video but it will also help us with filming our music video.

About our music video...
I have been starting to think about how our music video is going to look like. I have thought of an ending for our music video and have been looking at examples for this on youtube from films to show how the ending will be like. I will continue this post tomorrow and upload the examples that i have found and will explain how our ending will be like.

Website of "Midnight Hour"
Pictures Forrrr Website
These are some print screen shots that i have done of the band "Midnight hour"' 's MySpace page. I like the look of the webpage because they have a big picture of the band and the threee colour scheme draws the audience's attention. The colour scheme is bright and this could reflect the band's personality. They also talk about the band by introducing all the people that are in the band which makes it more personal and helps create that connection with the audience. They also have the music of the band and all their different songs which helps the audience to know their other tracks and listen to the ones they already know. Using a large font also attracts your attention. They don't have many words on there page which makes it quite simple and straight to the point. The words they do have help the audience to navigate around the page such as "Contact" or "Video updates". I think they have chosen not to have many words on their page so the audience can be more interested in their music. However they have wrote a bit about the band "We are lovers and liars,
We are sinners and saints." The words are quite informal and this creates a relaxed atmosphere and makes it more personal for the audience as they have being themseleves and the audience can get to know their true personalities.

More about the band "Midnight hour"
After just posting that blog about the video i watched that is similar to the song that we have for our music video. I did some research on this band and found out that they are an unsigned band just like our band. This could be helpful because we can see how they promoted their band. They do have a Myspace page, this could help us for the layout of our website page.
Similar Song To Our Music....
I really like this song that i have found, it's about running away. The song is called running away. Unfortunately this song doesn't seem to have a music video. So I have just uploaded it purely for the lyrics and the sound of the music. I feel that this song is very similar to our genre of music because there is only one main singer and we have only one singer in our video. I am going to do some more research on this band and find some more music video that will maybe give us some inspiration for our music video.

Sterotypical We May Need To Convey...
I have just had a look at this clip of the "Royal Tenenbaums" and it's a very graphic clip and we don't feel that we want to show the graphic side, but a lot of cases of people running away have a suicide case. We don't want to show this but we want to be able to show why our person in our video has run away, where she is running to, what has happend to make her feel like this. We can show this through flashbacks. We are going to have a non-linear narrative. We are thinking about including pictures of genuine missing people at the end and different statistics to make it more powerful and emotive.

Website Creation Software Ideas
I have been thinking about the website creation software that we could use to create of bands website and I have looked at a few different pieces of software, some of the pieces of software i have looked at include
- Interspire Website Design, I feel that this software is very simple to use and easy to work with but i feel that if does not have enough features to create an effective opening page to a website, i also think that the cost of the software at $395.00 for the standard edition is too steep for a new band to be using and I feel that realistically they would probably not have to funding to use this software.
- Serif Webplus 10. I have looked into the features of this software and it seems that it would be very capable of creating a decent website for a starting band, and for only $9.99 it would be an ideal product to use for a new band that needs a start up site i feel that we could use this then eventually move to more advanced software to create a better site.
- Macromedia Dreamweaver C4. I have looked into this software and i feel that this software would be a very good investment as it is a very adequate website developments software and we already have access to this software also so it would be a good way to start with this software then improve software if we ever became mainstream. I also feel that this software would be the best to use as we already have a good knowledge and understanding about the features and how to operate this software so i feel that we could implement the best site to our ability using this software.

More Website Analysis
Snow Patrol Website
I have just looked at the website for snow patrol and again I have found it uses a three colour Palette and that the colours all contrast each other very well making all of the information stand out. I think that this is a very good tactic as the dark background makes the text stand out and the audience will be instantly drawn to the information. I fell that we could take idea and mould it for our website not Necessarily have the same colours but the same idea of having one main background colour then two contrasting colours for the text, I feel that if we did this type of layout then our website would be very effective because all our text and information about the band will stand out to our viewer. I also like the music playing on top of the site of the site as it gives the viewer a taste of new music from the band and upcoming tracks it also gives the band chance to see which of their songs are played more than others, this is a good idea as they can see how to aim their music at their audience. I feel that we could do this also as being a new band if we played our music when the website is opened then if the viewer just happened to stumble upon the site they might hear the music and possibly like it, this could then end up the viewer looking further into the band and possibly buying the song E.T.C.

The Femal Gaze
After our theory lesson on Laura Mulvey's theory of the female gaze i have thought about how we want our female character to come across, i have thought that we do not want our male audience to find our character more relatable than attractive so they are not losing the point of the song and its video. I also feel that our character should have an ivitational facial expression as even though she is upset and running away the audience can feel sorry or relate to our character.
For our music video...
For our music video after recieving advice from Mr Smith, I feel that it would be a good idea to include pictures of genuine missing people, this will then make our music video stronger and effective and will have a more realistic effect on the audience. I feel that the audience will then be able to relate to our music video more as running away and going missing is common in the world and in the UK. So our audience can relate to this.
Using an image like this, will make it more effective and we could also put a statistic at the end of our music video to make it more realistic and it will create that powerful effect on the audience.
